Past Summer Camps

su21.jpg

This summer will be a lot of fun with camp offerings in STEAM, mixed media, and sculpture! Projects are open ended, but with specific skills taught so students can experiment, practice and apply it to their individual projects. Classes are capped at 6 students so everyone gets the one-on-one time they need to be successful- don’t wait to register!

Will there be breaks outside? Yes, camp duration is 3 hours so we take a 15 minute break outside or on the porch for snack from home and an activity! Students may want to bring bug spray or sunblock.

What to bring? Students should bring a water bottle and small snack, and may also want to bring a beach towel to sit on. Recommended attire: sneakers and dress for a mess!

Covid Safety Protocols: Masks are optional, and hand sanitizer is available. Windows and door will be kept open and fans will be on. The studio will also be sanitized after each class and students will be provided with weekly kits so sharing is minimalized.

My Pedagogy

Explore, Create, Grow!

Art class is a great way to connect to each other, ourselves, and the greater world around us. It helps us process what is going on in our daily lives, and how to put a voice to topics we might not have words for or fully understand yet.

Pedagogy of Many

Having had the opportunity to study many different forms of art in college and thereafter, I feel fortunate to pass on my knowledge to others. It brings me great joy to help others reach their goals and do what they did not think was possible. As a teacher, one of my goals is to increase self-confidence through accomplishment and self-awareness.

Get your hands messy!

Students enjoy exploring traditional and contemporary mediums with me. Such as painting, drawing, and sculpture to puppetry, animation, and digital photography! I teach small workshops, private classes, and do demonstrations. I am happy to host classes at my home studio or come to you!

Art for Healing

Crafting is not just for fun or overlooked, throughout art history there has always been an arts and crafts movement that I love to tap into. It provides a break from the everyday stress and allows the mind and body to find calm and inner focus. And let’s face it, there’s a medium for everyone- whether it’s hand lettering, origami, jewelry making, or something else- let’s find it together!

Virtual Learning

Virtual learning came on so fast many teachers like myself had to learn it overnight. For me, I have been getting better and better using technology and DIY tricks to capture lessons for students to participate in at home. Each week I learn through much trial and error and appreciate the patience from my students, families, and colleagues- thank you! My favorite apps so far- For slide show videos: Adobe Spark and Prezi Video. For editing voice over: Microsoft video editor. Adding flashy text, graphics, and sound effects: In Motion. I am using Padlet for more comprehensive lessons that use multiple resources, I find it similar to Pinterest where I can create a board of different links, but different because students can post work and comments. I’m sure this list will grow as the school year continues from home.
